TOP CHARITY sets a new record: nearly EUR 10 million from polish entrepreneurs in 90 minutes. Brzoska doubled the result

The fifth, jubilee edition of TOP CHARITY raised a record-breaking approximately EUR 20 million for charitable causes. In just 90 minutes, Polish business leaders bid approximately EUR 9.5 million for works of art and Great Emotions, with Rafał Brzoska doubling the result from his private funds. Among the most talked-about auction items were a monumental sculpture by Krzysztof Renes, auctioned for approximately EUR 426,000, a meeting with Elon Musk, combined with an opportunity to present a business plan to him, auctioned for approximately EUR 591,000, and a week-long trip with Ewa Chodakowska, which reached a record EUR 1.7 million. The total value of support raised since the initiative was launched has exceeded EUR 55.6 million, strengthening TOP CHARITY’s position as one of Europe’s leading philanthropic initiatives.

The prestige of the gala was underscored by the presence of the guest of honour, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of Asante in Ghana, symbolically strengthening the idea of building relationships beyond divisions between Europe and Africa. The Polish initiative, recognised by international competitions, once again brought together global leaders from business, culture, diplomacy and the social sector, including representatives of UNESCO, UniCredit, EY and Sunreef Yachts.

The symbolic opening of the fifth TOP CHARITY season was the success of the Polish thematic pavilion “Redefining. Polish-Ghanaian Textile Narratives”, organised by the OmenaArt Foundation during Malta Biennale 2026. Curated by Natalia Bradbury and based on a little-known story of historical solidarity between Poland and Ghana, the project received the award for Best Pavilion during the Maltese Falcon ceremony. Large-scale installations by Marta Nadolle, Eliza Proszczuk and Ernestina Mansa Doku redefined textile traditions as a language of memory, dialogue and mutual understanding, becoming the artistic opening of this year’s TOP CHARITY edition and a preview of its overarching idea: building bridges between Europe and Africa.

Omenaa is a bridge. Throughout her life, she has been building a space for understanding and making sure that this bridge is wide enough for others to cross. That is why I accepted today’s invitation not as a protocol visit, but as an expression of recognition for this exceptional bridge, which is worth crossing, and for the dialogue it helps to build and which we need so much. The international standing of the jubilee edition of TOP CHARITY is also confirmed by this year’s industry awards. The initiative was honoured at the Eventex Awards 2026, winning three Gold Awards in the Impact Event, Fundraising Event and Expo categories, as well as a Bronze Award in the Gala category. TOP CHARITY also received an iLuxury Award 2026 in the Best Luxury Services – Luxury Charity Initiative category, recognising its unique combination of philanthropy, art, modern patronage and premium experiences.

The day before the final gala, Warsaw became a space for an international debate on the future of business, culture and responsible leadership through TOP CHARITY ChangeMAKERS 2026. Held under the banner “The Age of Reimagination. Art • Business • Philanthropy”, the event brought together leaders of diplomacy, politics, technology, security, venture capital and art across divides at the Zamoyski Palace on Foksal Street. Its main themes included relations between Europe and Africa, the role of new technologies, state resilience and the potential of public-private partnerships. Guests included Åsa Regnér, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Andrzej Domański, David M. Harvilicz, Alex Haskell, Bernard Dallé, Martin Vohánka and Marwan Zakhem. One of the most significant moments was a conversation on leadership and social responsibility with His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of Asante. ChangeMAKERS confirmed that TOP CHARITY is today not only a platform for philanthropy, but also a place for a global conversation about impact, partnership and the future of cooperation between Europe and Africa.

For many years, TOP CHARITY has consistently shown that art, philanthropy and education can be not only tools for helping others, but also a language of international dialogue. This idea is developed by this year’s TOP CHARITY Art exhibition, presented from April to June in the historic Orangery of the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów, traditionally open to visitors free of charge. Across four editions, the TOP CHARITY Art exhibition has already been seen by more than 220,000 people. This year’s exhibition brings together 20th-century legends and leaders of contemporary auction rankings, creating a story about the strength of women, memory, identity and relationships between continents. In this dialogue, works by Ewa Juszkiewicz, one of the most important and highest-selling contemporary Polish artists, meet monumental works by Magdalena Abakanowicz, an icon of world art and a revolutionary in the field of textiles, whose significance is symbolically underlined by the Polish Senate’s designation of 2027 as the Year of Magdalena Abakanowicz. The exhibition also includes work by Ibrahim Mahama, named by ArtReview as the world’s most influential artist in 2025, and Amoako Boafo, one of the greatest phenomena in contemporary African art. It is completed by works by international and Polish artists, including Philip and Charlotte Colbert, Paweł Althamer and Pola Dwurnik, creating a multidimensional space where art, cultures and sensibilities meet.

This year’s TOP CHARITY edition was devoted in a special way to Africa, its potential, heritage and growing role in the global conversation about the future. The gala’s theme, “The Magic Kingdom of Asante”, referred both to Omenaa Mensah’s Ghanaian roots and to the richness of West African culture. The event setting, created by Katarzyna Konkowska, drew on the symbolism of the Asante royal court, African art and traditional craftsmanship, combining them with the language of contemporary design. The visual narrative of the gala featured, among others, the symbols Sankofa, reminding us of the importance of knowledge drawn from the past; Boa Me Na Me Mmoa Wo, referring to mutual help and cooperation; and Nkyinkyim, symbolising flexibility and strength in overcoming adversity. Their presence in the modern context of TOP CHARITY emphasised the main idea of this year’s edition: building lasting bridges between cultures, based on memory, partnership and shared responsibility for the future.

This is a reconnection and renewal of relations between Poland, Asante and Ghana — and it is Omenaa who made it possible. There is a history that at some point disappeared from view, and thanks to the Omenaa Foundation it has found its way back. We are delighted to be part of this process. The King is honoured to be in Poland, and we are all proud to support this mission. The King’s speech was exceptionally inspiring and had a strong economic dimension. The Kingdom of Asante is not waging wars today in the physical sense, but there is a fight against poverty, inequality and the lack of love in the world. That was the essence of his message: we must rebuild relationships, do good and change people’s lives for the better

The special significance of the jubilee edition was underscored by the presence of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, 16th King of Asante in Ghana, who came to Poland at the invitation of Omenaa Mensah. A day earlier, during TOP CHARITY ChangeMAKERS, his address was a symbolic invitation to develop economic and cultural cooperation between Europe and Africa. The visit of the Asantehene gave this year’s edition a dimension that went beyond the format of a philanthropic event. It became confirmation of Omenaa Mensah’s long-standing mission of consistently building bridges between Poland and Africa through culture, education and social responsibility. The presence of one of Africa’s most influential leaders strengthened TOP CHARITY’s international standing and highlighted Omenaa Mensah’s position as an ambassador of modern philanthropy and dialogue between continents.

The presence of the King of the Asante people, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the jubilee edition of TOP CHARITY has an exceptionally personal and symbolic meaning. It is a moment that is important not only for me, but also for the kingdom, my family and my heritage. Ghana and Asante culture are part of my identity, my father’s history and the values with which I was raised. For years I have dreamed of building authentic bridges between Poland and Africa through art, education and philanthropy. The presence of the King of Asante in Poland shows that this dialogue is real today and has enormous power. For me, it is also a noble symbol of respect for African heritage, which we want to present to Europe in a modern, proud and dignified way

The international character of this year’s edition was also reflected in the presence of guests representing culture, new technologies, art, philanthropy, diplomacy and royal families. The gala was attended by a delegation of the Ethiopian royal family comprising Asfaw Shiferaw Sahle, Kelmwork Asfaw Shiferaw, Tedla Khan and Blane Shieraf. Invited guests also included Phyllis Newhouse, US Army veteran, technology entrepreneur and cybersecurity leader, the first woman to receive the Entrepreneur Of The Year® US Technology Award organised by EY, Vanessa Williams, American artist and singer, Kami Gahiga, curator and art-market expert working between Kigali and London, Theresa Adjei-Mensah, Ghanaian diplomat and Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to the Czech Republic, Hannah O’Leary, specialist in the African art market associated with Sotheby’s, Jo-Ann Strauss, Miss South Africa 2000, Azu Nwagbogu, Nigerian curator, Johan Ernst Nilson, Swedish explorer, Ekow Ashun, British-Ghanaian curator; Kwame Mintah, Asante culture scholar specialising in Twi, kente symbolism and Akan social and religious structures, June Sarpong, entrepreneur and the BBC’s first Director of Creative Diversity, Lady Dentaa, British-Ghanaian entrepreneur, founder of the GUBA Foundation and GUBA Awards, Kristofer Ruscon, CEO of the Swedish-French champagne house HATT et SÖNER; and Marwan Zakhem, founder of Gallery 1957 in Accra and London and an important promoter of contemporary African art. Also present at the event were ambassadors and friends of the foundation family: Ewa Chodakowska, ambassador of the Kids Haven Sport & Art Complex in Ghana, Małgorzata Rozenek-Majdan with Radosław Majdan, Joanna Przetakiewicz, Anja Rubik, Edyta Pazura and Cezary Pazura, Rafał Zawierucha and Beata Wiśnicka-Zawierucha, Dorota Szelągowska, Marieta Żukowska, as well as Bedoes with Roksana Kwiatkowska, Barbara Kurdej-Szatan and Katarzyna Zdanowska.

DJ Cuppy, one of the most recognisable young African artists, a philanthropist and ambassador of modern Africa, played a special role during this year’s gala. Her involvement went far beyond music: during the event it was announced that Florence “Cuppy” Otedola would become the official ambassador of Kids Haven Sport & Art Complex, a project run by Omenaa Foundation that supports the development of children and young people through education, sport and art. The artist has long been involved in social and educational initiatives, working with organisations including Save the Children UK, the UN and The King’s Trust International, founded by King Charles III. As the first Nigerian woman in history to open a session of the UN General Assembly during the Summit of the Future, she is today one of a new generation of leaders who combine culture, education and philanthropy with real social impact.

Yesterday we heard from Omenaa Mensah that democracy is something extremely precious — for Poland, for my homeland Sweden, and for all of us. One of the regions that plays a particularly important role in these conversations is Africa. Just last week, ambassadors representing UNESCO’s African Member States jointly organised Africa Week at UNESCO, bringing together politicians, scientists, artists, chefs, dancers and many other participants to discuss contemporary Africa — its challenges, opportunities, young generation and organisations supporting women. UNESCO works in many African countries, supporting various areas of its mission. Through the Global Partnership for Education, UNESCO has mobilised USD 150 million over the past two years for the development of education in Africa

From the very beginning, Omenaa Mensah and Rafał Brzoska intended TOP CHARITY to develop not only as a philanthropic event, but as an international platform for long-term partnerships. Its foundation has been cooperation with leaders from business, diplomacy, technology, culture and the social sector, who together seek new models of responsibility and real impact. This year’s TOP CHARITY ChangeMAKERS, held under the theme “The Age of Reimagination”, was a natural extension of this vision, bringing together outstanding representatives of politics, security, UNESCO, art, new technologies and international business.

The fifth edition of TOP CHARITY, one of Europe’s most effective philanthropic initiatives, ended with a spectacular result. In less than 90 minutes during the gala, approximately EUR 20 million was raised. The final amount is still being counted. This is the highest result in the initiative’s history and at the same time proof that a modern model of philanthropy created in Poland is gaining real impact and international significance. Around TOP CHARITY, a unique ecosystem of cooperation between business, art and social activity has emerged, developed here in the heart of Europe.

What Omenaa and I have been building for years has long gone beyond the standard framework of philanthropy or event organisation. With each successive edition, TOP CHARITY shows that it is possible to think more boldly and build projects on a truly international scale. I watch with great admiration as a global community of people from business, art, culture and philanthropy grows around our initiative, united by shared values and the desire for real action. Each year, we also recognise exceptional attitudes among entrepreneurs who engage in helping others in an extraordinary way and use their success to build good. This year, we honoured three exceptional individuals or couples with sculptures by Jeff Koons, one of the world’s highest-selling artists. The foundation of TOP CHARITY is the authenticity, passion and consistency of a community that inspires new partners and leaders to take action. I am pleased that such strong organisations as UniCredit are joining our initiative. This is a clear signal that Polish business is approaching social responsibility with increasing maturity and wants to co-create projects with lasting impact. From the outset, we have developed TOP CHARITY with long-term and partnership-based thinking. Thanks to the Philanthropic Consortium, we have already been able to carry out hundreds of social projects and transfer tens of millions of zlotys to the activities of other foundations and aid organisations in Poland and abroad

This year’s TOP CHARITY Award laureates were: Iwona Büchner-Grzesiak, for her exceptional commitment to the development of philanthropy, her long-standing support for non-governmental organisations and the building of strong foundations for the civic sector, as well as her consistent support for the TOP CHARITY initiative from its first edition through the activities of Polswiss Art Auction House; Sacha and Augusta Dragic, for creating a modern model of corporate philanthropy and developing international educational, sports and social programmes through the Super Foundation, and Jerzy and Anna Starak, for their long-standing support for science, medicine, culture and art, and for consistently building one of the most important models of institutional philanthropy in Poland.

What happened during this year’s edition of TOP CHARITY is deeply moving and symbolic for me. Every year I become convinced that when people from business, art and philanthropy truly join forces, we can achieve things together that only moments earlier seemed impossible. I am particularly moved by the unwavering commitment of my husband Rafał, who once again decided to double the auction result. This is no longer just a gesture, but an expression of devotion to the values on which we are building our work and the TOP CHARITY project together: responsibility, partnership and belief in real social change. I am proud that around our initiative there is now a community of people who understand that modern philanthropy is not only about helping, but about building the future together

The artistic dimension of TOP CHARITY culminated in the main auction, which presented a unique selection of works by some of the most important names in global contemporary art, from Polish icons of the art market and leading representatives of the contemporary African scene to international pop art.

The top-selling artwork at this year’s auction was the monumental sculpture “On, Venus, Youth” from the “Universale” series by Krzysztof Renes. The aluminium composition reached a price of EUR 420,000, more than four times above its upper estimate. Renes, a third-generation sculptor and artisan, is steadily strengthening his position on the international art scene. His works are held in private collections in Poland and abroad, and the “Universale 4000x5” series was presented in 2025 at NordArt, one of Europe’s largest contemporary art exhibitions.

Among the key lots of the auction was also “Gaj” by Ewa Juszkiewicz, currently one of the highest-selling contemporary Polish artists in the world. Her work has long attracted the attention of the international art market thanks to its distinctive reinterpretation of classical portraits of women and its exploration of female identity in art history. Juszkiewicz creates surreal compositions in which she removes the most recognisable element of her figures — the face — replacing it with plant forms, fabrics or organic structures. Created in 2014, “Gaj” is one of the most characteristic examples of this artistic language: lush vegetation completely conceals the identity of the heroine, creating an atmosphere of mystery, strength and ambiguity. The work sold for EUR 400,000.

One of the most anticipated works in this year’s auction was also “Laced Fingers” by Amoako Boafo, one of the most important and highest-selling African artists in the world. Educated in Ghana and Vienna, Boafo became known for his characteristic technique of painting with his fingertips, which gives his portraits exceptional expressiveness, intimacy and recognisability. The figure depicted in the painting balances strength, calm and vulnerability, resisting straightforward interpretation. The artist consistently focuses on portraying Black subjects, responding to their long-standing underrepresentation in global contemporary art. His works are today held in the collections of major institutions, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Albertina Museum in Vienna and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The painting sold for EUR 350,000.

Another major surprise of the auction was the sculpture “Mademoiselle Pogany” after Constantin Brâncuși, which reached a price almost ten times above the upper estimate. The work, estimated at around EUR 20,000–30,000, was auctioned for approximately EUR 300,000, confirming collectors’ enduring interest in the work of one of the greatest sculptors of the 20th century.

A strong result was also achieved by “Out with Lanterns” by Charlotte Colbert. The work was auctioned for approximately EUR 300,000, five times above the upper estimate of approximately EUR 60,000. Colbert, described as “the child of Salvador Dalí and Emily Dickinson”, is among the most recognisable contemporary British artists. Her works have been presented at the V&A Museum in London and at numerous art institutions in Europe and the United States.

One of the key lots of this year’s auction was the monumental sculpture “Ptak II” by Magdalena Abakanowicz, the most outstanding Polish contemporary artist of global renown, whose work is now held in the world’s most important museum collections, including Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The piece was created in the final period of the artist’s career, when she increasingly turned to forms inspired by the animal world. The distinctive silhouette of the bird becomes a metaphor for the human condition, balancing strength, freedom and the experience of limitation. The outstretched wings suggest readiness for flight, while the static form of the sculpture creates emotional tension between the desire for freedom and a sense of immobilisation. The work sold for EUR 240,000.

Alongside works of art, an important part of the auction comprised 11 unique experiences from the “Great Emotions” category, which for years has been one of the most recognisable elements of TOP CHARITY. The record in this category was set by a week-long trip to the magical Six Senses Ninh Van Bay resort in Vietnam with Ewa Chodakowska, combining wellbeing, regeneration, training, expert consultations and conscious self-work in one of the world’s most prestigious wellness destinations. The unique experience, auctioned to 40 people, reached a total result of more than approximately EUR 1.8 million.

One of the most emotional and personal bids of the evening was a unique journey to Ghana with Omenaa Mensah and Rafał Brzoska. This several-day experience, offering an opportunity to discover contemporary Ghana — its culture, art, music and philanthropy — reached a total value of EUR 900,000. The programme includes, among other elements, participation in Accra Cultural Week, meetings with artists from the contemporary African art scene, visits to Kids Haven social projects and special events prepared by the hosts. The trip, which is also a story about Omenaa Mensah’s roots and the origins of her social mission, attracted enormous interest from guests, becoming one of the highest-selling “Great Emotions” of this year’s TOP CHARITY Gala.

There was also strong interest in a visit to the United States, during which the auction winners will meet Elon Musk, one of the most important names in the world of new technologies. The experience, prepared by Professor Piotr Moncarz and Dr Maciej Kawecki, offers not only the opportunity to meet the creator of SpaceX, Tesla and Neuralink, but also to present to him the winner’s own project, idea or initiative. This Emotion was auctioned for more than EUR 570,000.

The collector character of the auction was also underlined by a Great Emotion prepared in partnership with HATT et SÖNER. As many as three families gained the opportunity to create their own family champagne in the heart of Champagne — a limited Personal Vintage bearing their own name and comprising 60 bottles of their bespoke cuvée. The experience, delivered under the guidance of Kristofer Ruscon, CEO of the Swedish-French champagne house HATT et SÖNER, includes, among other elements, a visit to the vineyards of the Côte des Blancs, a tasting, a Masterclass Blind Tasting and a stay for two people at a five-star hotel in Champagne. Since the beginning of the initiative, the Great Emotions category has been one of the strongest elements of the auction and each year attracts exceptional donor engagement. The total amount raised from this auction was approximately EUR 480,000.

The exceptional experiences were also available online through the TOP CHARITY platform, allowing participants to bid from anywhere in the world. The transparency of the auction was overseen by EY Poland, the initiative’s auditor. The auction was hosted by June Sarpong, Joanna Kryńska, Jacek Piotrowski, President of Polswiss Art Auction House, and Radosław Mróz. The evening was also graced by a performance by Zalia, a charismatic artist of the young generation.

TOP CHARITY was founded in 2022, at a time of enormous social mobilisation following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Seeing the exceptional solidarity of Polish entrepreneurs, Omenaa Mensah and Rafał Brzoska created an initiative bringing together business leaders who combine professional success with real social commitment. Over five years, TOP CHARITY has evolved from a Polish philanthropic initiative into an international platform for cooperation and one of the most recognisable movements of modern philanthropy in Europe.

One of the most important pillars of TOP CHARITY is the Philanthropic Consortium. A minimum of 30 per cent of the funds raised during TOP CHARITY Gala goes to a grant programme that supports social, educational, cultural and aid projects in Poland and abroad. During three years of the Consortium’s activity, it has carried out 136 projects in Poland and 31 international projects, supporting around 800,000 beneficiaries in total. Funds have reached more than 60 social organisations, foundations and institutions.

Supported projects have included initiatives implemented with Zachęta – National Gallery of Art and the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts, Jolanta Kwaśniewska’s “Porozumienie Bez Barier” Foundation, the SEXEDPL Foundation, Teach for Poland, the “Rodzić po Ludzku” Foundation, the Castle Museum in Sandomierz, the Association of Families and Friends of People with Disabilities in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, the “Harfa” Choral Society, operating continuously since 1906, the Polish National Opera, the Museum of Warsaw, the Society of Friends of Piotrków Trybunalski, the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów and the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź. Funded projects included the exhibition “Dojrzewanie”, “Kącik Babci i Dziadka”, the Edulider Development Programme for the youngest children, activities to improve perinatal care in Poland, the project “Ludowe dziedzictwo oczami młodych”, “Noc Fotografii”, the restoration of royal polychrome at the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów and the “Baza MUZEUM” project.

Internationally, TOP CHARITY develops cooperation with, among others, the Obama Foundation, the Rafa Nadal Foundation, the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, Studio Voltaire, Si Hene Foundation and the Kuenyehia Trust for Contemporary Art. This direction demonstrates that a Polish philanthropic initiative can function effectively within a global ecosystem of social, educational and cultural partnerships.

The fifth, jubilee season of TOP CHARITY will conclude in Italy on 10 September with the TOP CHARITY Venice Experience. Details will be announced soon.

TOP CHARITY is the flagship philanthropic initiative of Omenaa Mensah and Rafał Brzoska, bringing together the worlds of art, business and social impact. Since 2022, through auctions of unique works of art and experiences, the organisation has raised nearly EUR 55,5 million for charitable causes, supporting projects in Poland, Africa and Europe. Its international standing is confirmed, among others, by three Gold Awards and a Bronze Award at the Eventex Awards 2026, an iLuxury Award 2026 in the Best Luxury Services – Luxury Charity Initiative category, and the Best Pavilion title for the OmenaArt Foundation project “Redefining. Polish-Ghanaian Textile Narratives” during Malta Biennale 2026.

TOP CHARITY ChangeMAKERS is a prestigious forum for leaders of change, bringing together representatives of business, diplomacy and culture. Organised since 2023, the event serves as a space for exchanging ideas and creating synergy in areas such as deregulation, security, education and the role of art in social development. In 2024, the guest of honour was Phyllis Newhouse, a US Army veteran who transformed her military experience into the fight against cyber threats as the founder of Xtreme Solutions, a company specialising in cybersecurity and defence technologies. In 2025, Dr Jill Biden, former First Lady of the United States, underlined the importance of global cooperation for equality.

TOP CHARITY Gala is a prestigious charitable event held annually as part of the TOP CHARITY initiative. The auction brings together artists, donors and art lovers, giving them the opportunity to bid on unique works of art and other exclusive items. Proceeds from the auction are allocated to charitable causes, supporting aid projects in Poland and around the world. It is not only a platform for art and culture, but also a space for building community and cooperation for the common good. TOP CHARITY Auction demonstrates that art can be a powerful tool for social change.

The initiative is distinguished by the Philanthropic Consortium — Europe’s first platform for cooperation between non-governmental organisations, including the Obama Foundation, the Rafa Nadal Foundation, the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and Médecins Sans Frontières.

Behind the project stand Omenaa Mensah — founder of Omenaa Foundation and an icon of modern philanthropy — and Rafał Brzoska, CEO of InPost and initiator of SprawdzaMY, who combine innovation with real social impact.
